Terms of Use

These Terms govern your use of the Cairn Harmony app ("the App"). By downloading or using the App you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. Apple's Standard EULA

The App is licensed to you under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Standard EULA"): apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula. These Terms add details specific to Cairn Harmony. If they conflict with the Standard EULA, the Standard EULA prevails.

2. License

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App on Apple devices that you own or control, as allowed by the App Store Terms of Service.

3. The App

Cairn Harmony is a personal tracking app that runs on your device. It stores your data locally in an encrypted database and does its calculations on the device. It does not require an account, and we do not operate servers that receive your content. How your data is handled is described in the Privacy Policy. We may add, change or remove features over time.

4. Free features and Cairn Harmony Plus

Core features are free. Cairn Harmony Plus unlocks additional features, such as encrypted iCloud sync and iCloud backup and advanced relationship and multi-day journey features. The features included are shown on the purchase screen before you buy.

5. Purchases and subscriptions

Plus is available as an auto-renewing monthly subscription, an auto-renewing annual subscription, or a one-time Lifetime purchase. The price, in your local currency, is shown on the purchase screen before you confirm. Reference prices in the United States: $5.99/mo, $35.99/yr, or $119.99 single payment for Lifetime. Prices in other countries are set in local currency by the App Store and may differ.

• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase.
• A subscription renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends, at the then-current price.
• You can manage or cancel a subscription in iOS Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the current period remains active until it ends.
• If a free trial is offered, any unused part of it ends when you buy a subscription.
• The Lifetime purchase is a single payment and does not renew.
• Purchases are processed by Apple. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies (reportaproblem.apple.com). "Restore Purchases" in the App restores your purchases on a device signed in with the same Apple ID.

6. When Plus ends

If your subscription ends, your data is not deleted. Plus features stop working or become read-only, and iCloud sync stops. Data already stored in your iCloud stays there until you delete it.

7. Your data and your responsibilities

Your content belongs to you. Because it is stored on your device (and, if you choose, in your own iCloud), you are responsible for keeping your device secure and for making backups. If you lose your device without a backup, or lose both your iCloud Keychain and your sync passphrase, we cannot recover your data. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter, including amounts filled in from a scanned receipt: text recognition can misread a receipt, so check the amount before you save it.

8. Not professional advice

The App provides tools for personal organization and reflection. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical, psychological, financial, investment or legal advice. Do not rely on it for decisions that need a professional. In an emergency, contact local emergency services.

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to copy, modify, reverse engineer or redistribute the App except as permitted by law, not to bypass its purchase checks, and not to use it for any unlawful purpose.

10. Apple services

Some features rely on Apple services, such as the App Store, iCloud, Apple Health and Apple Maps. Those services are provided by Apple under Apple's own terms, and we are not responsible for them. Apple is not responsible for the App or its support.

11. Disclaimer

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, as also stated in the Standard EULA.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the App. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that cannot be limited by agreement.

13. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it. Your license ends automatically if you breach these Terms or the Standard EULA.

14. Changes

We may update these Terms as the App changes. We will update the date above and publish the new version in the App and at cairnharmony.app. If you keep using the App after a change, the updated Terms apply.
